Puppuccino Recipe - 2 Ways (2)

Copycat Starbucks drinks, like this delicious vanilla frappuccino, don’t have to be for just humans. You can bring the coffee shop to your furry friend by whipping up this Puppuccino recipe for them at home.

What is a Puppuccino?

Puppuccinos are a popular Starbuck’s secret menu item. It’s simply a small espresso cup filled with whipped cream made specifically for your dog. Don’t worry, there isn’t any espresso, coffee, or tea in this treat.

While Puppuccinos are free at Starbucks, you can make them at home for pennies. You can also easily add a few extra delicious ingredients your dog might enjoy like pumpkin.

Ingredients needed

These are ingredients for an original Puppuccino the way Starbucks makes them and ingredients for our pumpkin twist.

Whipped cream – Use it straight out of a can or make your own by whipping heavy cream until soft peaks are formed.

Pumpkin pureeCanned pumpkin puree, not the pumpkin pie mix.

Greek yogurt – Small dollop of plain Greek yogurt.

Cinnamon – A small sprinkle of ground cinnamon for a little extra flavor and smell.

How to make a Starbucks Puppuccino

Original

  1. To make an original puppuccino, fill a small cup or bowl with whipped cream.
  2. Top with a small dog treat and serve immediately.

Pumpkin

  2. Place the pumpkin mixture in a small cup and top with whipped cream and a dog treat.

Recipe tips and variations

  • Some dogs do not tolerate dairy or have sensitive stomachs, so in this case, do not give them this sweet treat.
  • Try a sprinkle of cinnamon on top of the whipped cream for a hint of flavor.
  • Try substituting the pumpkin for a little dollop of peanut butter.
  • Try blending together blueberries, strawberries or bananas with Greek yogurt for a berry flavored treat.
  • If your dog likes this whipped cream treat they might also like these easy to make dog popsicles.

Is a Puppuccino bad for dogs?

Pup cups are made with just dairy whipped cream. Small quantities of milk products are typically safe for dogs but it’s always a good idea to check with your vet. Every dog is different and some have digestive issues or are sensitive to dairy. In this case it’s best not to serve your dog this treat.

Remember this is supposed to be a special treat and not served to your dog everyday.
