Tripp comes home to Wendy after with a bag full of last-minute Christmas decorations from the 99-cent store. Tripp knows she’s been struggling after Li’s death. She misses him so much, as well as the rest of her family in China. He invites her to tell him about her Christmases growing up. She shares that on Christmas Eve, they gave each other apples. In China, if you eat a peace apple, you’ll be blessed with a safe and peaceful year ahead. Plus, Santa plays the sax, which leads to her recounting a memory about Li being terrible at the instrument. Tripp holds her as she tears up.

As Sarah rolls Victoria’s stroller to Maggie in the Square, she senses something’s wrong. Tearing up, Maggie expresses how much she misses Victor.
Exiting the Pub, Alex runs into Xander, who mocks him for Bella tanking because he put the woman he’s sleeping with in charge. Defending Theresa, Alex wonders why he would ever take business advice from the man his father hired to mow his lawn. Xander glowers but then proposes they break bread in peace with Maggie at tomorrow’s Christmas gathering. Alex glibly tells him more than bread will get broken if he keeps this up.
In his Salem Inn room, Konstantin fumes over Theresa thinking she can walk away with no consequences. It’s not over yet, he declares, as he calls her.
While sitting in the park, Theresa ignores Konstantin’s call and then tightly embraces Andrew as he approaches. He grimly informs her Shane passed Victoria’s kidnapping case on to him — and he discovered Theresa’s face in one of the enhanced photos. Theresa lies that Konstantin is a sweet old man who wanted to impress Maggie so he came up with the save-the-baby idea. She was just trying to help because Maggie’s been so lonely. Andrew accepts her story because it’s exactly the kind of thing she’d get mixed up in. But it makes her an accomplice to kidnapping. Why shouldn’t he turn her in?
As Maggie laments Victor never knowing Victoria, Konstantin leaves the Inn. He eavesdrops behind the large Christmas tree as Maggie talks about how sad she is. Sarah wonders if she’s feeling even lonelier because Konstantin moved out. Maggie insists he has nothing to do with it. It was time for him to go because he was putting her family in danger. Sarah doesn’t want her to be unhappy for them. Maggie stands firm.

At the station, Jada bemoans not being able to solve Victoria’s kidnapping case before Christmas. Rafe reminds her Victoria is safe at home, so it’s not a pressing issue. However, he would like to solve one mystery right now. “Is Jada Hunter going to move in with Rafe Hernandez or not?”
Moving to the interrogation room, Jada tells Rafe how Stephanie’s break up with Chad reminded her of her break up with her husband, Bobby. She was too impulsive and moved too fast. She didn’t know Bobby as well as she thought and they started to resent each other. She hasn’t seen or heard from him since they broke up. She also ran into Eric, which gave her another reminder of what can wrong when she moves too fast.
In the Square, Sarah and Maggie confirm they’ll see each other at Doug and Julie’s later. After Sarah leaves to meet Xander, Maggie sees Alex. Konstantin continues to eavesdrop as Maggie tells Alex how disturbed she was to learn the first issue of Bella far outweighed the ad revenues. Alex contributes that to one-time startup costs. She takes Alex to task for putting resources into a dying commodity with an underqualified Theresa in charge because of their personal relationship.

In the park, Theresa tells her brother how sorry she is and asks what he’s going to do. Andrew will tell John and Steve that they couldn’t enhance the kidnapper’s face. She breathes a sigh of relief. “Now, let me tell you what you’re going to do,” he sternly adds.
After receiving a delivery, Tripp presents red apples to Wendy. She thanks him and asks about his traditions growing up. He says his adoptive mom did her best, but after she died, he just tried to stay out of his abusive dad’s way. She’s sorry to bring up bad memories. He thinks it’s time to make their own happy ones. He holds up an apple and says, “To a safe and peaceful year ahead.” They clink apples and bite into them.
In the interrogation room, Jada tells Rafe she wants to take things slowly and do it right. He assumes he could have avoided some heartache himself had he done that in the past. He wants her to set the pace for them. He loves her and wants her to be at peace with her decision. “Just let me know when you’re ready.”

In the Square, Alex muses it’s best if he and Theresa pass on Christmas, considering Maggie’s feelings toward him. Maggie implores him to come for Justin, who misses him, and for Victor. Alex doesn’t want it to be miserable, so consider him out. After Alex strides away, Konstantin approaches Maggie and offers to treat her to a cup of eggnog. She hesitantly agrees.
In the park, Andrew orders Theresa to walk the straight and narrow and to stay away from Konstantin. Also, stop getting involved in schemes she knows are wrong. It’s the last time he covers for her. A grateful Theresa embraces him before he leaves for the ISA jet.
At the station, Rafe gifts Jada with keys to his house. He knows they’re not moving in, but he figured she should have her own set to come and go as she pleases. Jada knows this will be the best gift she gets this Christmas. As they kiss, they decide to go home because it’s a night when nice girls and boys go to bed early — bad ones too.
Inside the Pub, Sarah tells Xander, despite it being his night with Victoria, she wants to take their daughter to Doug and Julie’s. He understands, but asks if she’ll drop Victoria off on her way home. Sarah doesn’t want to miss her daughter’s first Christmas morning. Xander says one of them has to, and he is willing to miss her first Christmas Eve. Sarah suggests he come to Doug and Julie’s with them. It’d mean so much to her mom, “And to me.”
At home, Tripp brings out the Jenga game for old-time’s sake. A flirtatious Wendy suggests they play a different game for new time’s sake. They kiss. Wendy gets a call from her mother, who’s concerned about Wendy’s dad. He hasn’t been doing well since Li’s death, so she wants Wendy to move back to China.
After Konstantin tells Maggie a story over eggnog about Victor, she invites him to the Horton tree trimming. Konstantin would be most grateful.
When an anxious Theresa runs into Alex in the park, he suggests they have Christmas Eve dinner at The Bistro. She needs to finish shopping first, so they plan to meet up later. She anxiously sighs as he walks away. Later, Theresa answers a call from Konstantin. She states that she can’t help him with Maggie ever again. He menacingly counters that she can — and she will.
