In the cliff house, Steffy tells Liam that Finn’s not getting back to her; the service can be a little spotty down at the beach. She knows Liam was excited about their daddy/daughter day and is sorry it’s taking longer than expected. Liam says normally it would be fine but now it feels a little different having seen Finn get cozy with Sheila. How can he trust him to protect Kelly from Sheila?

On the beach, Finn thanks Sheila for saving Kelly and calls her “Mom”. Sheila tells her son she’s glad she was there to save the precious little girl. Finn is more grateful than she’ll ever know, “But you need to keep your distance. I can’t see you.” Kelly joins them and Sheila pats her head, “I’m just glad that you’re okay. But next time you’re close to the water be very careful.” Sheila returns Finn’s towel and walks away.
In the cliff house, Liam and Steffy go over the charges against Sheila being dropped. They can’t let their whole existence become about Sheila. Liam just wishes they knew that Kelly was safe. Sheila is dangerous and walking the streets like an animal. Steffy vows to do whatever it takes to keep the children safe. Liam’s issue is with Finn. Steffy tells her ex that her husband loves Kelly like his own. Liam argues that he clearly has feelings about his birth mother. Whatever the explanation is, he can’t trust him right now to protect Kelly. Liam loves his daughter and Steffy and that’s not going to change.

Liam ignores a call from the office and Steffy assures him that Kelly is fine. Liam goes over Sheila being a murderous psychopath who is obsessed with his daughter’s stepfather. Steffy doesn’t want to think about it. She saw the embrace, but she has to believe in Finn. She has to believe there is some kind of explanation. Steffy hated watching it but that doesn’t mean he’s not going to protect them. Liam tells Steffy he keeps thinking about the day Kelly was born. Steffy smiles as he describes knowing his life would never be the same again. He knew then that he had to do everything he could to keep her happy and safe, and not just her, but Steffy as well. “I know what I saw, Steffy, and my gut… I’m sorry, my gut is telling me that for whatever reason, Finn is vulnerable to Sheila. I can’t let you and Kelly be the price for that.” Liam’s phone buzzes again and Steffy urges him to go. She’ll let him know when Finn and Kelly are back. Before Liam leaves, she tells him once again that she trusts her husband… and that she appreciates his concern for them.
In his apartment, Deacon finishes some work and flashes to Sheila saying she was going to see her son. He thinks it would take a miracle for her to convince Finn to let her be a part of his family’s life. A knock comes at the door and he bellows, “Working!” Sheila calls out and Deacon murmurs to himself, “Don’t be stupid…” He lets her in and Sheila stuns him by declaring, “You won’t believe what happened. I saved Kelly’s life.” She grins from ear to ear.
At the cliff house, Kelly comes into the house with Finn and tells her mother that something really scary happened, “I almost drowned.” Steffy gasps and holds her daughter.
At Spencer Publications, Liam flashes to telling Steffy about Finn hugging Sheila and shudders. Wyatt walks in and Liam tells him he’s still taking time off to be with Kelly, but she’s at the beach with Finn. Wyatt wonders if he’s a bit jealous and asks how it went telling Steffy about Finn hugging the she-devil. “There’s no way that she could accept Finn letting Sheila anywhere near her or the kids after hearing that, right?” Liam says Steffy wants to believe in her husband, but he doesn’t trust the guy now.

In Deacon’s room, Sheila explains how she followed Finn and Kelly to the beach. Finn got an important phone call and Kelly went to the water’s edge with her bucket and got swept under. She went in after her. Deacon marvels, “You saved Steffy’s daughter’s life!” He’s glad she didn’t listen to him about stalking Finn. Sheila says what’s important is that Kelly is safe. Deacon thought she was crazy to think she’d find a way into Finn’s life, but she may just have pulled off the impossible. Sheila beams.
In the cliff house, Finn assures Steffy he checked Kelly out and she’s okay. Kelly complains that the ocean took her bucket, but Finn’s mom saved her. Steffy asks, “Li was there?” Kelly replies, “Not Li, Sheila.” Steffy’s eyes snap to Finn’s face with a look of horror and confusion.

With revulsion, Steffy repeats, “Sheila saved you?” Finn says he can explain. Kelly goes off to take a shower and Steffy fumes, “What the hell happened?!” Finn admits he had an important work call and put his earbuds in and turned his back on her for just a moment. Steffy growls, “You never turn your back on a child at the beach!” Finn stammers that it happened so fast; suddenly he heard her crying for help. He rushed in and got Kelly and that’s when he saw Sheila. He was as stunned as she is, but he was just glad Kelly was okay. Steffy screams, “Okay? Okay?! My God, I could have lost my daughter; she could have drowned! What the hell were you thinking? You never turn your back on a child at the beach!”
Finn protests, “I know, I know, okay! I’m sorry.” Steffy asks what Sheila was even doing there. Finn doesn’t know but adds, “Thank God she was… because if she wasn’t maybe… I mean, she saved her life. My mother saved Kelly’s life!” Steffy stares at him, utterly stunned.
