Thomas Expresses His Undying Love to Hope — and Sheila Publicly Confronts Deacon With What She Knows (2024)

At Il Giardino, Sheila reels as she overhears that Deacon had the judge set her free. Deacon tells the judge that he cares about her and believes people can grow and change, “Hell, look at me.” The judge is glad he pulled his life together and says, “Now we’re even, right?” Deacon replies, “Absolutely,” as they shake hands. Sheila listens as they go over the fact that she’s done terrible things. Deacon defends her to the judge, “If everyone tells you that you’re a monster, I don’t know, maybe you start believing it.” He adds, “You’d be amazed at what a little love can do.”

At the cliff house, Finn assures Li that he’ll make it clear that Sheila’s not welcome in his life. Li feels that’s not enough. He has to convince her that he loathes her, “You have to be cold. Harsh. If she sees an ounce of emotion or hesitation, she’ll never leave us alone.” Finn tells Li he’s sorry for all of this. Li coaches, “You know what to do.” She loves him but she hates that Sheila is his biological mother, “I don’t ever want to see Sheila’s face ever again. I want her out of your lives for good. Tell me you want the same thing.”

In Thomas’s apartment, Hope notices his heart is beating so fast. He says, “Yours too.” She strokes his face and coaxes, “Say it again, Thomas. I just want to hear it one more time.” Thomas says he loves her, and no matter what’s happening or what she’s feeling, he’s always loving her.

Hope tells Thomas how much that means to hear, but says she doesn’t want to hurt him. Thomas knows that, maybe now she doesn’t know what to feel, but having her there close to him is all he needs, “I’ve got enough love for the both of them.”

At the cliff house, Li admits she can’t let go of the anger and fear. She fumes about his father lying to her throughout their entire marriage. It’s unforgivable, “And make no mistake, Sheila knew your father was married.” She asks Finn to tell her that he can’t forgive her either. Finn says he’ll never forgive Sheila for what she’s done. Li can still see he’s conflicted. Finn denies it’s true. Li reminds him what they have to do to remedy a cancer like Sheila, “We cut it out.”

At the restaurant, the judge guesses that Deacon is involved with Sheila. Deacon admits to it and says that Ridge and Bill also know. The judge can’t imagine them being happy about it given she shot Steffy. Deacon says Ridge doesn’t get a say in his love life. He doesn’t understand it but it felt right, “And I don’t have any regrets.” Sheila smiles when she hears this.

At Thomas’s place, he and Hope make out on the sofa. Thomas wants to show her how much he loves you, “You can love me just as much as I love you, you just have to let go. Hope, just give me a chance. Let go.”

Hope tells Thomas, “It’s never been like this for me before, Thomas.” He replies, “Me either.” Hope says there’s something about him, in the way he looks at her, the way he talks to her, “I don’t have any doubts. I know that there is no other woman, that your heart isn’t divided. It feels good to know that you are absolutely devoted to me.”

At the cliff house, Li urges Finn to focus on his family. Hers is fractured and it kills her. She reminds him he’s fighting for his happiness and his life. Finn hates coming home to that house without them. He can’t sleep at night and when he does, he wakes up to Steffy’s side of the bed being cold. When he sees those kids, they’re going to be so big, “And I’ll have missed all of that.” Li tells her son to get that monster out of his life. Steffy has to know she’ll never have to worry about Sheila again.

At the restaurant, the judge warns Deacon he needs to be careful with a woman like Sheila Carter. He may not be able to help him next time. Deacon says there won’t be a next time. They embrace and Deacon walks him out. Sheila stands up and is in the middle of the restaurant when Deacon reappears. She can’t believe what she’s seeing, “Drinks for two?”

Deacon claims it was just a business meeting and notes how strange it is to see her out in the world. He asks her what’s going on. Sheila’s getting used to being a free woman. She thought she was going to spend her life behind bars but miraculously, she was released. Deacon shrugs that Bill’s an idiot. Sheila thinks it was a miracle. An outside force intervened to ensure she could live a life of freedom loving her son and grandson. Deacon has to get back to work and reminds her they already said their goodbyes. Sheila grabs him, “I can’t leave you like this.” She needs him to know how much she appreciates everything he said. “I’m not a monster. Do you really believe that?” Deacon nods, “Of course I do.”

Sheila thinks maybe she’s worthy of a life that she never had, worthy of her freedom and a life with her son, “Worthy of love. All I ever wanted in my life was to be loved.” Deacon learns that she saw him with the judge that presided over her case, “And I heard everything that you said. It was all because of you that I’m a free woman today. How do I ever thank you for something like that, Deacon? How do I ever do that?” They stare into each other’s eyes as she strokes his chest.

At Thomas’s apartment, Hope tells him that he always seems to know what she wants to hear. He muses, “Hmm. That I’m a one-woman man? You are everything I need, Hope.” He says a lot of this feels like Romeo and Juliet, “I will love you to my dying day.”

At the cliff house, Finn calls Steffy. He knows she needs to feel safe before she comes home, “I’ll make sure you’re safe, Steffy. I love you. We’ll be together soon.”
